Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Kane Williamson fined for a slow over-rate in IPL 2022 after losing their first game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 61 runs.
Williamson was fined INR 12 lakh after failing to complete an overs quota within the set time limit at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Williamson in particular was the second captain to be fined for maintaining a slow pace in the fifteenth league of IPL
Earlier on Sunday, Mumbai Indians (MI) Rohit Sharma became the first captain of IPL 2022 to be slapped with a fine of 12 Lakh INR.
“The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been fined after they maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on March 29,” said IPL in an official statement.
“As it was the team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over-rate offense, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the statement added.
SRH crashed to defeat after Sanju Samson scored 55 runs off 27 balls, which helped RR set a total of 210/6. Devdutt Padikkal, Jos Buttler, and Shimron Hetmyer also chipped with 41, 35, and 32 scores respectively.
On the other hand, after the match Williamson said that his team started well with Umran Malik clocking the speed of 150 km / h in the first over itself. But according to the 31-year-old, things went downhill after his bowlers delivered a few no-balls and allowed the Royals to put a huge total of 210/6 on the board.
